Capella Bangkok Review 2026 — Is It Worth It
Capella Bangkok is the standout luxury hotel on the Chao Phraya River. Opened in 2021 on the Charoen Nakhon riverside, it occupies a quiet stretch of riverfront with uninterrupted views across the water to the Bangkok skyline. From the moment you arrive by hotel boat, it delivers an experience that justifies its position among Asia’s finest hotels.

Location
The Capella sits on Charoen Nakhon Road, around 500 meters from Icon Siam. The hotel operates its own river shuttle to Sathorn/Central Pier — a 5-minute crossing giving direct BTS access to Silom and Sukhumvit. The Charoen Nakhon neighborhood has Lhong 1919 and The Jam Factory within 1.5km, and the Chao Phraya Express Boat reaches the Grand Palace in around 20 minutes.
The Rooms
The Capella Bangkok has 101 suites — no standard rooms. The smallest is 65 square meters, which puts it firmly in the space bracket most five-star hotels reserve for top-tier categories. Design blends Thai heritage and contemporary luxury: teak floors, hand-crafted silk textiles, artisan furniture and large private terraces or balconies on most room types.
River view suites face directly onto the Chao Phraya and Bangkok skyline. The views at dusk, as city lights reflect on the water, are genuinely exceptional. Bathrooms are a highlight: oversized soaking tubs, rain showers, handmade ceramic amenities.
Dining
Phra Nakhon serves refined Thai cuisine with a focus on regional dishes and heritage recipes. The food is genuinely excellent — the kitchen sources carefully and presentation is beautiful. Riverside terrace tables are the most sought-after in the house.
Stella is the all-day dining option with European and Asian dishes and a strong cocktail list. The bar terrace is one of Bangkok’s quieter spots for a sundowner — no music, no crowds, just the river and the skyline.
Pool and Spa
The riverfront infinity pool is long, uncrowded (101 rooms helps) and positioned with full river views. The Auriga Wellness spa has an extensive treatment menu drawing on Thai healing traditions, with indoor vitality pool and relaxation areas. Book ahead if spa time is a priority.
Service
The Capella’s “Culturalists” are a concierge and personal host hybrid who handle everything from restaurant bookings to day trip planning. The staff-to-guest ratio is very high, and it shows: first names from check-in, remembered preferences, genuinely knowledgeable local recommendations.
What It Costs
Entry-level suites start from around £450–£600 per night depending on season. In line with the Mandarin in Bangkok and The Peninsula, and more than the Four Seasons or Rosewood. Expensive by Bangkok standards, but competitive with equivalent properties in London or Singapore. For luxury riverside Bangkok, the Capella delivers at a level that justifies the price.
