Icon Siam Bangkok: The Complete 2026 Visitor Guide
Icon Siam Bangkok is not just Bangkok’s largest shopping mall — it’s become one of the city’s defining landmarks since opening on the banks of the Chao Phraya River in 2018. Whether you’re visiting for a day or basing yourself in the riverside neighborhood for your entire trip, this guide covers everything you need to know.
Complete Icon Siam Bangkok Guide
What Is Icon Siam?
Icon Siam is a mixed-use development spanning 750,000 square meters on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok’s Charoen Nakhon district. It was developed by Magnolia Quality Development Corporation and Siam Piwat, with an investment of 54 billion Thai Baht — one of the largest private real estate investments in Thai history.
The complex contains:
- Icon Siam Mall — the main retail and dining complex with over 500 shops and 100 restaurants
- SookSiam — a vast indoor Thai market and street food hall across the entire ground floor, representing all 77 Thai provinces
- Icon Luxury — the premium retail zone housing Hermès, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Rolex and other luxury brands
- ICONSIAM Residences — two luxury residential towers
- Mandarin Residences — branded serviced residences
Why Visit Icon Siam?
Most visitors to Bangkok head to Siam, Sukhumvit or Silom. Icon Siam gives you a genuinely different experience:
- The riverside location is spectacular — floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the Chao Phraya with the old city skyline beyond
- SookSiam is unmissable — an entire floor recreating Thai market culture from across the country, including canal boats floating through an indoor waterway
- It’s less crowded than Siam — despite its scale, the Thonburi location keeps tourist volumes more manageable than the Skytrain-connected malls
- The free shuttle boat from the BTS Saphan Taksin pier is a highlight in itself — a river crossing that feels like an attraction rather than a commute
Opening Hours
Icon Siam is open daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm. SookSiam operates the same hours. Individual restaurants may open earlier (some from 8am for breakfast) or close later (some bars until midnight or beyond).
How to Get to Icon Siam
There are three practical ways to reach Icon Siam from central Bangkok:
1. BTS + Free Shuttle Boat (Recommended)
Take the BTS Skytrain to Saphan Taksin (S6 on the Silom Line). Exit to the Sathorn Pier (also called Central Pier / Tha Sathon). The free Icon Siam shuttle boat departs every 10–15 minutes and the river crossing takes around 5 minutes. This is the most popular and most enjoyable route.
From Siam BTS: around 15 minutes to Saphan Taksin, plus 5 minutes on the boat.
>From Asok/Nana/Sukhumvit: change at Siam, same total time roughly 20–25 minutes.
>From Silom/Sala Daeng: 5 minutes to Saphan Taksin.
2. Chao Phraya Express Boat
The orange flag and yellow flag Chao Phraya Express Boat services stop at Icon Siam Pier (N0/CEN). If you’re already on the river — coming from the Grand Palace, Khao San Road, or Rattanakosin — this is the most direct option.
3. Grab / Taxi
If you’re coming from Sukhumvit, Silom or elsewhere in central Bangkok by car, address your Grab to “Icon Siam, Charoen Nakhon Road, Khlong San”. Traffic on Charoen Nakhon can be slow during evening peak hours — allow extra time. The BTS option is usually faster at peak times.

What to Eat at Icon Siam
Icon Siam has over 100 food and beverage outlets across its floors. The ground floor SookSiam is the highlight for most visitors — genuinely excellent Thai regional food at street prices, eaten at communal tables beside an indoor canal. It’s one of the most atmospheric places to eat in Bangkok.
The upper floors offer everything from Japanese ramen and Korean BBQ to upscale Thai restaurants with river views. The rooftop STRUT bar is one of Bangkok’s best spots for a sundowner over the Chao Phraya.

Shopping at Icon Siam
The mall covers every price point:
- Icon Luxury (floors 1–2): All the major European luxury houses. Worth visiting even if you’re not buying — the store designs are spectacular.
- Mid-range international (floors 2–4): Zara, H&M, Uniqlo, Charles & Keith, Pandora
- Thai brands and designers (various floors): Some of the best exposure to Thai fashion and homeware brands you won’t find elsewhere
- SookSiam (ground floor): Thai crafts, regional specialties, food products, traditional clothing — better than any tourist market for authentic souvenirs
Icon Siam vs Other Bangkok Malls
Icon Siam isn’t for everyone — it’s slightly out of the way compared to Siam Paragon or Central World, and if you’re on a tight schedule it can take half a day to do justice to. But it offers something those malls genuinely don’t: the riverside setting, SookSiam, and a less tourist-saturated atmosphere.
